    Non-Member Tuition: $125

Tuition covers the expectant parent plus one support person.

    Preparing for Childbirth Fundamentals

If you’re just looking for the basics, or prefer attending a shorter class, you can take our Preparing for Childbirth Fundamentals. This class has condensed information in a shorter time frame and does not include hands on practice of labor and birth coping skills.

Tuition covers the expectant parent + one support person.

Parents are encouraged to register in the fourth or fifth month of pregnancy and have their classes completed by about 36 weeks. Please note that a hospital tour is not part of prenatal classes at Amma. You can contact your hospital directly for information about tours.

If you desire a natural childbirth, or a more in-depth experience of hands-on skills, you will benefit from taking the Labor Skills Workshop in addition to this class. You may also consider our Natural Childbirth 5 week series as an alternative to Preparing for Childbirth.

We ask that families read our policies before registering for classes. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Private childbirth classes can often be arranged upon request.  Our private classes are 3 hours and the tuition is $300 (non-members) and $270 (members).

Please pick the date that works for you.
    Disregard locations

Pressed for time? Our All-in-One Express class teaches you the basics of the birth process, beginning breastfeeding and basic newborn care – all in a one-day class. This condensed curriculum is taken from our Preparing for Childbirth, Breastfeeding and Newborns 101 classes.

This class highlights the essentials of each topic, but is not as comprehensive as our traditional classes.  We’ll spend the morning on childbirth preparation and the afternoon on breastfeeding and baby care.

    You’ll learn:

    • The birth process
    • Coping strategies for labor, including pain medication
    • Cesarean birth
    • Postpartum healing
    • Starting out at breastfeeding, and how to recognize signs of success
    • Newborn care procedures in the hospital and continuing care at home

Our instructor will recommend good websites and books for more in-depth learning. Because of the nature of the class, hands-on breathing and relaxation will not be covered. Parents wanting to learn and practice breathwork and relaxation techniques should consider the Labor Skills Workshop.

This is one of our most in-demand classes. Keep in mind its popularity and consider registering early. Also, please note that a hospital tour is not part of prenatal classes at Amma. You can contact your hospital directly for information about tours.

    Member Tuition: $180

    Non-Member Tuition: $200

Tuition covers one expectant parent and one support person.

    Expecting Multiples

This class is a Virtual-Interactive Live Classroom and Online Learning!
Please pick the date that works for you.
    Disregard locations

Parents of twins (or triplets) need extra preparation! Caring for multiple tiny babies at once brings its own special set of joys and challenges. Join other families of multiples as we walk you through childbirth, care and feeding, and adjusting to life as a family of four or more. Spending time with a small group of other expectant parents will let you graduate with a support network of people who know just what you’re going through. A visit from a new family with multiple babies will cap off our time together.

In this five-week series, families will learn:

    • The birth process, and how c-sections and vaginal births are modified for multiples
    • What to know about breastfeeding multiples, and how to ensure a plentiful milk supply from day one (includes information on pumping breast milk)
    • Feeding options
    • Newborn care procedures in the hospital, and care of premature babies
    • Basic care of your newborns, including bathing, diapering, swaddling, soothing, using a car seat and detecting illness
    • Self-care, sleep, and how to cope with the emotional challenges of multiple babies
    • A guest family of multiples will visit on the last night to share their experience

    Member Tuition: $189

    Non-Member Tuition: $210

Tuition for the five-week series covers one expectant parent and one support person.

We strongly recommend this class be completed by 32 to 34 weeks of pregnancy.

We ask that families read our policies before registering for classes. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Private childbirth classes can be often be arranged upon request for a tuition of $300 for a 3-hour session. If you are on bed rest with your multiples, consider our Understanding Multiples Online class. It is not specific to multiples but has excellent information.

  • Natural Childbirth

    Natural Childbirth

This class is now a Virtual-Interactive Live Classroom!
Please pick the date that works for you.
    Disregard locations

Natural Childbirth is the prenatal class best suited to women who wish to avoid or reduce the use of medications and interventions.

The birth process is the foundation of the class, and each week you’ll practice coping strategies like breathing, intentional relaxation, visualization, massage, and helpful positions.  While this holistic approach makes it a good fit for women hoping for an unmedicated birth, pain medications, and supportive interventions are discussed.  With less lecture and more interactive, hands-on learning, we will explore issues like keeping a positive attitude about your body’s abilities, advocating for yourself, informed decision making, exploring emotions, and how to prepare yourself for parenthood.

Spending time within a small group of other parents-to-be establishes a support network of other families who may become friends for life!  You’ll even have a visit from a Natural Childbirth graduate family with their baby.

    You’ll learn:

    • The complete birth process
    • Extensive coping strategies for comfort, with ample time to practice
    • Pain medication and supportive interventions
    • Cesarean birth
    • Decision making and how to advocate for yourself in a medical setting
    • Planning out a “wish list” with goals for your birth
    • Postpartum healing
    • The transition to parenthood, with breakout sessions for both mothers and support partners
    • Weekly takeaways such as journaling projects, relaxation exercises, and positive affirmations
    • How to make a plan for your care team, both in the birth setting and at home with baby
    • The last night is our “Sneak Peek” night.  You’ll be visited by a new family to prepare you for what’s ahead.

We recommend taking this class with plenty of time before your due date to practice the techniques throughout the third trimester.  Please budget time to finish the class by about 34-36 weeks.  As always, all families are welcome regardless of where their babies will be born.  For those families birthing in a hospital, please note that a tour is not part of prenatal classes at Amma. We encourage you to contact your hospital directly for information about tours.

    Member Tuition: $189

    Non-Member Tuition: $210

Tuition for the five-week series covers one expectant parent and one support person.

We ask that families read our policies before registering for classes. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
